Political Killings | Over 340 suspects arrested since 2018: Cele

DURBAN - Police Minister Bheki Cele says over 340 suspects have been arrested since 2018 in connection with political killings in KwaZulu-Natal.

Cele says over 62 suspects have been successfully convicted.

eThekwini and Zululand have been designated as political killing hotspots.

Cele was giving an update earlier on an inter-ministerial committee meeting into the scourge in KZN.

"Since 4 July, the task team has so far investigated 321 dockets and this is 63 more dockets compared to the last update that was provided in February last year," he said.

"This figure includes 134 cases reported from 2011 to June 2018 before the commencement of the work of the task team."
