Primary school pupils rushed to hospital after eating 'space muffins'

JOHANNESBURG - 90 pupils from Pulamadibogo Primary School in Soshanguve have been rushed to local medical facilities.

It is alleged the pupils consumed muffins laced with dagga.

The police have identified the street vendor who sold the muffins to them.

"According to the information at our disposal, the learners then started behaving strangely while they were in class in school and then the educators had to call the emergency services," said Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona.

"Emergency services arrived and some pupils were nauseous and some were vomiting to such an extent that they felt that they had to do something and most of them were attended to at school but they felt that they had to rush them to different clinics because we could not take them to one clinic but later working with the Department of Health we decided we had to admit them to different hospitals."
