Ramakgopa commits to ending load reduction in a year

PRETORIA - Electricity Minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has committed to ending load reduction within 12 to 18 months.

Ealier this month, Eskom said there will be no power cuts this summer. The power utility said planned maintenance on the utility's infrastructure is paying dividends.

Ramokgopa says together working with Eskom they want to see load reduction gone. He was speaking during a briefing in Pretoria on Thursday.

The minister says this can only be achieved if communities co-operate by legally connecting to the power-grid and paying for electricity.
