PRETORIA - President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Gauteng Judge President, Dunstan Mlambo, as Deputy Chief Justice.
His appointment is effective from 1st of August. Mlambo emerged as the top candidate at the Judicial Service Commission interviews.
Mlambo and two other shortlisted candidates were battling over the position which was left vacant after Chief Justice Mandisa Maya was elevated to head the Constitutional Court.

Ramaphosa says choosing Mlambo as Deputy Chief Justice is line with the JSC's recommendations, after a transparent and inclusive selection process.
Justice Mlambo has been serving as Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court since 2012.
