Ramaphosa places Mchunu on leave of absence

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on leave of absence with immediate effect.

This after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's startling allegations against the Police Minister.

Mhwanazi alleges Mchunu is colluding with the criminal underworld and interfering in police investigations.

Ramaphosa is also setting up a commission of inquiry to investigate Mkhwanazi's claims.

The President addressed the nation on Sunday at the Union Buildings.
