Ramaphosa responds to budget fiasco

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa says the postponement of the 2025 budget speech should not be seen as a crisis.

Ramaphosa says the parties in the government of national unity will go back to the drawing board and will try to find each other.

In an unprecedented move that shocked markets on Wednesday, cabinet cancelled the speech and postponed it to 12 March.

At the heart of it is a disagreement within the Government of National Unity over a two-percentage point VAT hike.
