Ramokgopa says recent power losses glitches were non-technical

PRETORIA - Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says the reasons for the loss of energy at the various power stations that resulted in power cuts over the weekend were non-technical.

'If they were technical, we are engineers and these are machines, it is to be expected,' he says.

Speaking at a briefing on Saturday, Ramokgopa did not want to be drawn into speculation that the recent power cuts were due to sabotage.

Instead, saying whatever needs to be done cannot be discussed publicly, but privately.

Eskom suffered setbacks over the weekend, resulting in the power utility announcing stage 3 power cuts from Friday until Sunday.
