Ratanda water partially restored – Lesufi

RATANDA - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said water has been partially restored to parts of Ratanda.

Protests turned deadly following weeks of dry taps.

Two people were killed and Lesedi Local Municipality Mayor Mluleki Nkosi's house was torched.

Lesufi visited the families of the victims on Sunday.

“The water is back in the community. Those low-lying areas, which I was even discussing with the community, are high-lying areas, so the executive mayor explained that it will take a day or two for the water to come to the high-lying areas.

“But there is water. Water is back. I mean, I've interacted with people.

It's only the high-lying areas. We've given them an additional two days to pump the water to come to that level.

“But I plead with the community just to wait for an additional day or so that we're in a position to get water, especially the high-lying areas,” Lesufi said.
