JOHANNESBURG - Rise Mzansi has unveiled Lukhona Mnguni as its City of Johannesburg mayoral candidate as the party begins its push ahead of the municipal elections.
The announcement comes amid growing concern over voter apathy and whether residents still believe their votes can bring meaningful change.
Mnguni told delegates that many residents of this city have checked out of exercising their right to vote.
"Enough research shows this. They no longer trust that their vote can translate into positive outcomes, yet the material conditions that make them despair are a product of those who are elected to office.
"We then have a serious task in the next six months, where we need to make people understand that voting is an important ticket out of misery," Mnguni said.
