SA urges UN meeting after US strikes on Venezuela

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is calling for an urgent United Nations Security Council meeting following what it calls unilateral military action in Venezuela.

The International Relations Department says it views the US strike and capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife as a grave violation of the UN Charter.

Pretoria warns that the use of force against a sovereign state undermines international law, political independence, and global stability.

It is now urging the Security Council to convene immediately to address the situation and prevent further escalation.
