SANDF soldiers remains to be repatriated

CAPE TOWN - The bodies of the 14 soldiers killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo will be repatriated on Wednesday.

SANDF Major-General Rudzani Maphwanya announced to the Defence Portfolio Committee in Parliament on Tuesday.

Maphwanya, along with Defence Minister Angie Motshekga and Deputy Minister Bantu Holomisa appeared with him where they faced intense grilling.

They stuck to their guns that SANDF is one of 16 forces involved in the mission while justifying the resources utilised.

Questions about the soldiers' capabilities were also a common thread.

Committee members expressed their dissatisfaction with the answers, suggesting a further inquiry may be required.

Soldiers remain deployed despite the ceasefire in place.
