Service delivery | R79m needed to repair Wemmer Pan Road

JOHANNESBURG - One of Joburg's busiest roads remains closed years after it was shut down.

Wemmer Pan Road connects the CBD with the southern suburbs.

It was closed in 2021 after the Joburg Roads Agency reported sinkholes caused by illegal mining.

To date, repairs have not been carried out.

During an oversight visit, JMPD officials and the local councillor noted that the road is fast becoming a site for illegal dumping, a home for zama zama’s, waste pickers and sex workers.
