Signs of recovery in Johannesburg's water systems

 

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Water and the city's Environment and Infrastructure Service department are telling residents  the system is slowly recovering after a series of mishaps strained the water supply.

However, MMC Jack Sekwaila says some parts of the network remain under pressure.

He said, "as of Friday, 22 September, Rand Water systems started improving, although there are certain key reservoirs that feed Johannesburg Water that are still low. Rand Water is shifting loads in order to balance the system."

"Some of Johannesburg Water systems that are seeing improvements and receiving normal flow including Midrand where we are experiencing improvements overnight in the reservoirs levels."

"We also expect some improvements in Sandton, Illovo system. Johannesburg Water systems that are still under immense pressure include the following South Hills Tower and Palm Station, Crown Gardens, Commando System, Naturena, Midrand system, Alexandra Park as well as Sandton Illovo reservoir system."
