Slovo Park residents accuse police of brutality

JOHANNESBURG - Slovo Park residents in Johannesburg are accusing police of brutality.

They have been protesting over the lack of services in the area.

The N12 has been blocked over the past few days and trucks torched.

Residents also blame police for the death of a 16-year-old boy.

"Every night after 6 there’s a tendency now they would throw in tear gas all over the place," says community leader, Lerato Maroleng.

"People cant even sleep in their own houses small kids are suffocating which now frustrates the cause and we are saying really we have been peaceful trying to just get the attention of the individuals that are  yet to talk to us we are requesting that this excessive force is being utilized must then be retracted from this community," she adds.
