South Africans seek solutions in SONA

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver his first State of Nation Address as the head of the Government of National Unity on Thursday.

South Africans are hoping the address is one they can resonate with and will include ideas to address social ills including unemployment, crime and the high cost of living.

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Opening of Parliament address last year, laid out plans for the coalition government's first term in office.

These included rapid, inclusive economic growth, job creation and tackling the high cost of basic good under an already strained economy with minimal growth but despite these challenges, Ramaphosa promised South Africans there would be progress under the GNU.

Fast forward to this year, South Africans say there hasn't been much progress.
