Tributes and commemorations pour in for Aziz Pahad

JOHANNESBURG - Tributes are pouring in for the late Aziz Pahad.

He's being remembered as a stalwart of the struggle and a freedom fighter, committed to South Africa and the ANC.

Aziz Pahad was a selfless revolutionary and an intellectual of the ANC according to ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula.

Mbalula said, "he can be counted amongst the alumnus of our revolutionaries."

"He was selfless."

"Aziz was something else."

The 82-year-old died last night less than three months after his brother Essop Pahad passed on.

The family is yet to announce funeral details.

Aziz Pahad loved people and people loved him right back, according to fellow struggle stalwart Ronnie Kasrils.

The two spent time together in exile in London.

Kasrils explained why Pahad never attained the position of Minister.
