Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi placed on precautionary suspension

JOHANNESBURG - Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi has been formally placed on precautionary suspension.

He was implicated in Fannie Nkosi's testimony at the Madlanga Commission.

He is accused of colluding with officials over the awarding of tenders.

The Tshwane City Council resolved to place Mnisi on precautionary suspension, pending the outcome of an investigation.

"Having considered the representations, together with the allegations arising from testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the applicable legal framework, Council resolved to place the Chief Financial Officer on precautionary suspension, pending the outcome of an investigation," Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya said.

"This decision has been taken in order to safeguard the integrity of the investigation and to protect the interests of the Municipality. It does not constitute a finding of misconduct."
