Tshwane Metro Police's Deputy Commissioner placed on suspension

TSHWANE – Another Tshwane official has been suspended after they were implicated at the Madlanga Commission.

Police Sergeant Fannie Nkosi mentioned Umashi Dhlamini at the Madlanga Commission.

He testfied that he acted as intermediary between Dhlamini and Tshwane Metro CFO Gareth Mnisi.

Nkosi said Dhlamini provided a list of seven preferred companies for a security contract.

The tender is linked to someone called 'Juju CIC' and the EFF.

Dhlamini requested to be placed on suspension with immediate effect.

“TMPD Commissioner Yolande Faro has considered Deputy Commissioner Dhlamini’s request and duly approved it. Dhlamini was responsible for Support and Administration. His suspension took effect on Friday, 20 March 2026.

“The suspension is part of a standard risk-management measure to safeguard the integrity of the investigative process. It does not constitute a disciplinary sanction or imply any finding of guilt,” an official statement read in part.

The Commission focused on WhatsApp messages between Dhlamini and Nkosi and plans to include his brother who owns a security company in the deal.

Tshwane MMC Kholofelo Morodi is on special leave and has also been suspended by her party, ActionSA.
