MAKHADO - At least five people have died and 34 others hospitalised after a bus plunged off a cliff on the N1 highway towards Musina outside Louis Trichardt on Thursday.
It is believed the driver lost control and the bus plunged down an embankment.
Limpopo's Transport and Community Safety Department says the bus was travelling from Gauteng to Musina, where the passengers were going to catch another bus to proceed to Zimbabwe.
Three people are still trapped underneath the wreckage. Authorities say the bus was ferrying 39 people.
The crash happened at the same spot where another bus accident claimed the lives of 43 people last October.
The highway remains closed to traffic, and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.
Traffic and emergency services are at the scene.
