Vaal crash victims to be remembered at memorial

JOHANNESBURG - A memorial service for the 14 pupils killed in the Vanderbijlpark crash this week will be held on Friday.

Buhle Radebe, Bokamoso Mokhobo, Sibongile Madonsela, Leano Moiloa, Lesego Sefatsa, Letlotlo Makwe, Ofentse Vinger, Lindokuhle Mabaso, Pheello Motaung, Puleng Maphalla, Naledi Motsapi, Bohlale Lekekela, Thato Moetji and Sagwadi Mathe tragically died on their way to school.

The memorial service will be held at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Ground in Sebokeng.

The 22-year-old taxi driver, Ayanda Dludla, appeared in court on Thursday. 

Dludla has been charged with 14 counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, one count of driving without a valid Professional Driving Permit and one count of driving an unlicensed motor vehicle.

Families of the victims have also called for the vehicle owner to be charged alongside Dludla.

Authorities say investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
