Veld fire kills 5 soldiers in NCape

JOHANNESBURG - Five SANDF members have died, and several others have been injured after a veld fire swept across a combat training centre in Lohatla, Northern Cape.

Army vehicles and equipment were destroyed by the flames.

The defence force will convene an inquiry to determine the cause and costs of the blaze.

Twelve SANDF soldiers have lost their lives in the past three weeks.
