CAPE TOWN – Four people have been killed in separate incidents at Enkandla informal settlement in the Western Cape.
Provincial spokesperson Colonel André Traut says officers responded to a murder complaint at around midnight, and discovered the body of a man burnt beyond recognition.
“While still attending to the scene, officers were alerted to another incident in the same area where the bodies of two additional males were found, also burnt beyond recognition,” Traut says.
According to police, the body of a 30-year-old man was discovered at 2am, with multiple stab wounds.
“He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel,” Traut added.
Western Cape authorities have condemned the killings, which bear “the hallmarks of vigilante attacks”, and are believed to be related.
Investigations are underway, while the motive remains unclear.
“Those responsible for these murders will face the full might of the law,” Traut says.
