WATCH | Efforts to extinguish Richards Bay factory fire continue

RICHARDS BAY - Efforts to extinguish the Richards Bay Woodchip factory fire continue, but the blaze has been contained.

Officials are now roping in more resources, including helicopters to assist. The blaze broke out at the weekend and is suspected to have started at a conveyor belt.

Officials, however, say investigations will reveal what exactly transpired. No fatalities or injuries have been reported.

Around 200 workers will be affected by the fire and the public has been urged to stay away as a change in wind direction could re-ignite the blaze.

The cost of damages is expected to be in the billions as the factory faces months of non-operation.
