WATCH | It's premature to ask Speaker to step down - Mashatile
JOHANNESBURG - It's premature for the Democratic Alliance to ask Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to step down.
That's the view of Deputy President Paul Mashatile.
The Speaker faces allegations of accepting bribery and has since taken special leave.
The DA has asked Parliament to debate a motion of no-confidence against her.
Answering questions virtually, Mashatile says Mapisa-Nqakula has not been charged, and law enforcement agencies should be given space to work.
Mashatile answered questions during the National Assembly virtual plenary sitting on Thursday.
