JOHANNESBURG - The public squabbling and claims of interference within the SAPS have seriously dented its integrity.
That’s according to some experts, who describe the court battle between the National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, and suspended deputy, Shadrack Sibiya, as embarrassing.
Sibiya is pushing back against claims that he interfered with the Political Killings Task Team.

Sibiya denies disbanding the unit and says written correspondence will prove what really happened.
However, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola points the finger at Sibiya, accusing him of influencing internal processes that led to the team being shut down.
eNCA’s Pule Letshwiti-Jones reports that Sibiya is fighting in court to get his job back.
