CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police are investigating the kidnapping of a week-old baby from a shopping mall in Cape Town.
According to police, the mother reported visiting Middestad Mall in Bellville on Saturday with her newborn and another individual.
She says she began feeling nauseous and went to the bathroom, leaving the baby in the care of the person accompanying her.
When she returned, both the baby and the individual were gone.
The case is being investigated by the Bellville Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, and police have confirmed that a kidnapping case has been opened.
