Western Cape braces for rain, wind and rough seas

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape is bracing for disruptive rain, damaging winds, and rough seas.

The Weather Service has issued an orange level nine warning for the province.

Western Cape disaster management is on high alert.

It's closely monitoring the Overberg, Garden Route, and southern parts of the Cape Winelands.

Widespread flooding and the possibility of rainfall in excess of 100 millimetres are expected.

This is reportedly the highest level ever predicted for the province.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors and take shelter.

They are also being encouraged to familiarise themselves with evacuation plans.
