JOHANNESBURG - The AARTO Act is set to take full effect in just a few months.
First passed back in 1998, it only began rolling out in 2021.
The next phase kicks in on 1 December, covering 69 metros and municipalities, with the rest following in April.
Central to the Act is the demerit system, breaking traffic laws and earning points.
For example, skipping a stop sign will earn you one point.
Rack up 15 and your licence is suspended.
We find out how it will all work with motoring expert Michael Pashut.
