Activist comments on possible ceasefire amid deepening crisis in Gaza

GAZA CITY - Israel is intensifying its war on Gaza, as the Defence Force begins the first stages of an assault on Gaza City.

Thousands have been displaced, with over 61,000 killed including 19,000 children since October 2023.

Israel is seemingly ignoring a ceasefire proposal, and has approved a West Bank settlement programme.

There has been fresh diplomatic push to end more than 22 months of war.

Hamas accepted a new ceasefire proposal for Gaza, a senior member from the group said Monday.

Mediators Egypt and Qatar, backed by the United States, have struggled to secure a lasting truce in the conflict, which has triggered a dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

But after receiving a new proposal from meditators, Hamas said it was ready for talks.

Loay Alshareef, a UAE-based Egyptian activist, discussed possible solutions with eNCA.
