African Union addresses ongoing regional tensions

ADDIS ABABA - Tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have been escalating.

This is due to the ongoing conflict in the eastern DRC, where Rwandan-backed M23 rebels have taken control of key areas.

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, Rwandan President Paul Kagame and the DRC’s Félix Tshisekedi met in Qatar.

While this isn’t their first meeting, it carries significant weight given the current hostilities.
