Africa's wildlife at risk due to climate change

JOHANNESBURG - Global warming and drought, intensified by changing climate patterns, are placing Africa's wildlife in peril.

A new United Nations report has found that animal populations are being ravaged, but not just by thirst and starvation.

Human intervention is also contributing, as fragile ecosystems buckle under climatic stress.

To unpack the findings of that report, we are joined by Dr Henno Havenga, lecturer for applied and agricultural climatology at the North-West University.
