JOHANNESBURG - Former President Thabo Mbeki and ex-Justice Minister Brigitte Mabandla are heading to court.
They want to be part of a landmark damages case brought against government.
Families of those killed or disappeared during apartheid are seeking constitutional damages.
They allege political suppression of cases referred to the NPA by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Mbeki and Mabandla are seeking leave to intervene, arguing they have a direct interest in the proceedings.
