Baboon's death highlights need for wildlife education

ALBERTON - The National Council of SPCAs is offering a R20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those involved in harming the baboon, Raygun. 

It's urging those who filmed the attack to come forward.

Raygun, a Chacman baboon, was killed by pupils of Botleng Secondary School in Delmas. 

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for urgent wildlife education.

Chief Inspector Douglas Wolhuter, NSPCA Wildlife Protection Unit Manager said, " We will like to see justice for Raygun baboon that is in terms of animal protection act. 

In addition to justice we will also look see an education programme rolled out.
