City of Tshwane clamping down on Marabastad traders

PRETORIA - The City of Tshwane is clamping down on traders in Marabastad.

The market has been shut down after vendors failed to produce valid permits.

Mayor Nasiphi Moya says a lease is not a green light to trade, vendors need a permit and health clearance.

Now the High Court has stepped in, giving traders until the 8th of August to get their paperwork in order.

The closure has been met with harsh criticism with many saying the Mayor is taking away people's livelihoods.

eNCA's Jenna-Leigh Bilong discusses this with the city's Economic Development MMC, Sarah Mabotsa.
