JOHANNESBURG - Tommy Mthombeni has been appointed as the new Gauteng Police Commissioner.
He replaces Elias Mawela who retired in January.

Mthombeni has worked for the SAPS for over 37 years.
He was the station commander of the Jabulani Police Station and Pretoria Central Police Station.
