Dirco comments on US sending violent criminals to Eswatini

JOHANNESBURG - There is growing concern in South Africa over the US deportation of convicted criminals to Eswatini.

US Homeland Security says the deportees were denied reentry into their countries of origin.

The criminals including child rapists and murderers are from Jamaica, Laos, Cuba, Yemen, and Vietnam.

The US has also secured a deal with Rwanda to take in its refugees and is in talks with South Sudan.

This flies in the face of International Conventions that the US is a signatory to.

It also poses a serious risk to security, human rights and international humanitarian law.

International Relations spokesperson Chrispin Phiri shares more details in the video above.
