JOHANNESBURG - Tuesday marks 35 years since former President Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
It was a watershed moment for South Africa and its transition to democracy.
After 27 years behind bars, he went on to became the leader of the ANC, and later the first democratically elected President of the country, uniting a nation for a better South Africa.
