JOHANNESBURG - Cameroon President Paul Biya has been re-elected for an eighth term at the age of 92.
This is after attending only one election rally, statues and life size cut-outs were sent to others.
In fact, Biya left Yaounde for Switzerland just 3 weeks before the elections.
He's been previously accused of running his country from Geneva.
Now, violent protests have erupted as the opposition rejects the results.
Moving further west, Alassane Ouattara has won his 4th term as Ivory Coast President at the age of 83.
We discuss how the old guard keeps getting new mandates in Africa with Professor Everisto Benyera, from Unisa's African Politics Department.
