Discussion | Cabinet approves industry waste tyre management plan

JOHANNESBURG - The second-hand tyre industry in South Africa presents enormous challenges.

 It is estimated that 63% of second-hand tyres sold in the country are illegal and unfit for road use.

Cabinet recently approved the Industry Waste Tyre Management Plan for implementation.

 It aims to divert new waste tyres from storage and will simultaneously target the processing of existing stockpiles.
