Discussion | Food Safety | Chemical linked to food poisoning crisis identified

 

DURBAN - Police have arrested four suspects in possession of a chemical with possible links to Gauteng's food poisoning cases.

This is according to Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi, who says health officials have identified a chemical used in the manufacturing of foods stocked by some spaza shops.

There has been a surge in suspected food poisoning incidents in Gauteng, some of which have claimed children's lives.

Parliament’s Portfolio committee on Health's Chairperson Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo spoke to eNCA.
