JOHANNESBURG - The SANDF Chief, Rudzani Maphwanya, has ignited a diplomatic firestorm after pledging military and political alignment with Iran.
The Departments of Defence, International Relations and the Presidency hurriedly distanced themselves.
They say the remarks do not reflect official government policy.
Analysts warn the statements could further strain ties with key partners, mainly the United States.
