DURBAN - The days of overspending in government apartments are coming to an end.

That is the promise from KZN Finance MEC Francois Rodgers.

He says a recent investigation found his office inherited a history of unnecessary spending.

The province's MECs paid R16.8m for car rentals.

Rodgers says cost-cutting measures he is implementing include the closing of the Durban Treasury office.
