Discussion | Lack of power line work threatens survival of start-ups

JOHANNESBURG - The power line industry is concerned the future of many start-ups may be on the line.

It says Eskom's transition development plan creates a feast and famine scenario.

Only 12 percent of powerlines are planned for the first five years, with more planned for the second phase.

It says the first window of famine will be tough for smaller companies and start-ups to survive.

This will also create an under-supply of providers when demand picks up in the second window.
