JOHANNESBURG - Half of the teachers in the country are considering leaving the profession.

This as 70% report high stress levels due to administrative duties. This is according to Stellenbosch University's Teacher Preferences and Job Satisfaction study.

Adding to the problem is a lack of structured support systems.

According to Banele Lukhele, CEO of the Jakes Gerwel Fellowship, newly qualified teachers are pretty resourceful. 

She says even when you look at social media, they try to turn something that may be a pain into a tool that they utilise in the classroom.
