Discussion | MK Party disputes legality of Mchunu's leave

CAPE TOWN - The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has taken President Cyril Ramaphosa to the Constitutional Court.

It's challenging his decision to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on leave and appoint Professor Firoz Cachalia as acting police minister.

The MK Party also wants the court to scrap the newly announced judicial commission into claims made by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Constitutional law expert, Prof Pierre de Vos, says the MK challenging the president's decision is not going to be successful as the judge cannot investigate the judiciary.
