JOHANNESBURG - Police officers will have body cameras from April.
At least 100 of them for now.
Minister Senzo Mchunu said, in response to a Parliamentary question.
Lawmakers have long advocated for the mandatory use of body cameras by police,
with an aim to improve oversight of police-public interactions.
Calvin Rafadi, a crime expert and Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg said it will cost a lot of money.
Police officers that are in the street parolling must be prioritised because they are mostly accused of robbing victims even robbing suspects.
