JOHANNESBURG - A sharp rise in Type 2 Diabetes is driving an increase in cataracts, the leading cause of preventable blindness.
Rates have doubled in just six years, putting more South Africans at risk of cataracts.
The Right to Sight Trust will perform more than a thousand free cataract surgeries this year, including 700 during Eyecare Awareness Month.
