JOHANNESBURG - Large swathes of Johannesburg remain without water, and despite promises of restoration in 6 days, hope is drying up.
The Mayor says high demand is constraining the system and Rand Water says this could lead to total collapse.

However, Water Expert Mike Muller says the situation should never have been allowed to reach this stage.
He says the utility should have acted before reservoirs ran dry.
