CAPE TOWN - The Institute for Economic Justice says the Social Relief of Distress Grant amendments are unlawful and irrational.

Government has proposed recovering money from beneficiaries it's deemed to have benefitted irregularly and cancelling applications that haven't been paid out within 90-days.

It also says the three-hundred-and-fifty-rand grant payments haven't kept up with inflation.
