Discussion | Trump administration backs one-year renewal of AGOA

JOHANNESBURG - The African Growth and Opportunity Act has expired.

But, the Trump administration has announced its support for a one-year extension of the act.

It offered duty-free, quota-free access to thousands of products from 32 African states, including South Africa.

Prof Garth le Pere, associate at the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection, unpacks this further.
